Terms of use

The short version

Dobbin is a free app made by an independent developer. Use it to keep records for your family, keep your account safe, and only invite people you trust. What you record stays yours. It's a record-keeping tool, not medical advice.

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Dobbin (“we”, “us”). They cover the Dobbin apps for iPhone and Apple Watch, the service they connect to, and this website. By using any of them you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Dobbin.

A free service, provided as is

Dobbin is free. We work to keep it reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We can't promise it will always be available, free of errors, or that data can never be lost, so keep an export of anything you can't afford to lose.

Records, not medical advice

Dobbin helps caregivers write down what they observe. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it isn't a medical device. Timers, trends and summaries are for your own reference. Talk to your pediatrician or another qualified professional about your child's health, and contact emergency services in an emergency.

Your account and household

You sign in with Apple, and you're responsible for what happens on your account and your devices. You should be an adult, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to create an account.

Anyone you invite to a household can see and add to its records, including notes, photos and health observations, until they leave or are removed. You're responsible for who you invite. Only invite people you trust, and remove anyone who should no longer have access.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

• use Dobbin to break the law or to harm, harass or track anyone;
• try to get into accounts or households you weren't invited to, or to read data that isn't yours;
• probe, overload, disrupt or work around the security of the service, or use bots and scripts against it;
• upload content you don't have the right to share, or content that is illegal;
• send spam through the feedback form or the sign-up lists, or resell access to Dobbin.

Your content stays yours

The records, notes and photos you add belong to you and your household. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display them only as needed to run Dobbin for you and the people in your household: syncing, widgets, Live Activities, exports and keeping the service working. We don't sell your content or use it for advertising.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Dobbin without owing you anything for them.

Changes to the service, and if it ends

Dobbin will change over time: features may be added, changed or removed. If we decide to shut the service down, we'll give notice in the app or on this website where practical, with time to export your data as CSV, PDF or a backup.

Ending your use

You can stop using Dobbin at any time, and delete your account in the app from Account → Delete Account. The privacy policy explains what that deletes. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer of Dobbin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Dobbin or from not being able to use it. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as your local law permits. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have that can't be waived.

Apple

Apple, iPhone and Apple Watch are trademarks of Apple Inc. Apple isn't responsible for Dobbin. If you get Dobbin through the App Store, Apple's standard terms for apps also apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll also give notice in the app or on this website where practical. If you keep using Dobbin after a change, the updated terms apply.
